In the email that was sent for Ethiopian Airlines staffs a week ago the airlines announced that reducing staff is one of the way to fight the ongoing revenue crisis due to the travel restrictions and falling demand across the globe in connection with Corona virus spreading which hurting the airline industry’s ability to fly.
The airlines which has currently 16,000 staffs reduced the flight capacity by more than 20 percent to mach the supply of shrinking demand and idle capacity with fixed cost ordered the management heads who are working under its umbrella to down size and close offices and reduce staffs which are not necessary for the current market .
In addition it requests the manager to ask the service providers like ,hoteliers, carters, tax advisers, fueilers, ground handlers and other service providers to give temporary reliefs, discount and to make new waive deal .
The airlines notified in the letter it starts re negotiating all the contracts including with the companies who leases there aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines .
The negotiation will target to reduce the leae price or to not use them the aircrafts till Corona impact on the market will significantly reduced .
The airlines told the corgo departments to upgrade three efficiency by using the current cargo service demands.
Currently the airlines have ten B_777F cargo craft and each flies 11 hours per day and the request demand to fly 17 hours .And the two B – 738 aircrafts who flies 6 hours each a day should increase it to 13 hours a day .
