A major partnership initiative with the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau and important affiliated city institutions was announced today by Dodai Manufacturing PLC, a prominent local manufacturer and operator of electric mobility solutions. Dodai is offering an exclusive pilot for its cutting-edge battery swapping network and donating 40 electric motorcycles (without batteries) as part of its dedication to promoting e-mobility and assisting the city’s transformation agenda. The objectives of this strategic partnership are to improve urban transport, advance environmental sustainability, and give Addis Ababa residents new sources of income.
The smart battery swapping network of Dodai is fully compatible with the donated motorcycles. This creative solution eliminates the need for conventional charging, reduces downtime, and eliminates concerns about battery maintenance by enabling users to visit a Dodai swap station, pay a fee using a smartphone, and immediately receive a fully charged battery.

Yuma Sasaki, CEO of Dodai Manufacturing PLC, stated, “We are immensely honoured to collaborate on this ground-breaking project with the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau and the essential city institutions. “Our commitment to advancing sustainability, modernising urban transport, and empowering youth via e-mobility is demonstrated by this donation and the proposed pilot. This, in our opinion, is an essential first step towards a more inclusive and sustainable Addis Ababa transport system.”
