Senior leaders and seven other Ezema members left the group

Who have announced their voluntary departure from the organisation is Yeshiwas Assfa, the former chairman of Ezema. Together with Yeshiwas, additional party members Habtamu Kitaba, Daniel Shibeshi, Nancy Wudneh, Gialgau Nade, Tekle Bekele, and Nuri Mudesir also left the party. They claimed that despite several attempts, “various internal and external” variables were responsible for their failure to influence the party’s policies.

The resigning lawmakers accused the party’s top leadership of “supporting the violence that the regime is committing” and “advance[ing] the values and objectives of the ruling government” rather than bringing together the people and parties. According to the individuals, “our struggle has lost its line, and we have been forced to remain in a high level of internal party struggle” was added to the list of disagreements.

Earlier, the party’s vice head Andualem Arage and director of public relations Nathaniel Feleke also voluntarily departed the organisation.
