The day after it was stated that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s current concerns had been handled through discussion, the church announced that the agreement had been breached by the parties who allegedly made unlawful appointments.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the country’s elders took part in the reconciliation effort, and it was agreed that those who were condemned for appointing bishops outside the canon of the constitutional church should be reinstated.
As a result, the condemnation was removed, and an arrangement was struck for the three bishops to return to their old dioceses, and for those who were appointed as bishops to return to the priesthood.

To address the issue, it was agreed that those who satisfy the requirements would be evaluated by the Holy Synod and appointed as bishops.
But, the “Holy Synod of Oromia and Nationalities” chose a path that breached the agreement in its statement issued by the church.
According to reports, the church denounced the breaking of the agreement, and the basis of the problem was the proclamation made by those who defected from the canonical church that the appointment of bishops is lawful and irrevocable.
The church is awaiting the elevation of the three bishops’ houses of worship, which it has sealed in accordance with the agreement, and it is unfortunate to learn that it is in breach of the agreement.
After claiming that the three fathers had entered the church after allegedly making a statement that violated the agreement, the church requested them to leave.
The Holy Synod announced today that three bishops who claim to be ethnic bishop appointees shall be expelled from the church until they retract their declaration from today.
