Raxio opens a 3 MW data centre outside the capital city of Ethiopia

The US firm Raxio issued a statement commemorating the opening of independent data facility located at Gorro ,  outskirts of Addis Ababa, in Shger City .

This information centre was developed at a cost of $30 million and installed with technology to help financial, educational, and commercial institutions exchange information quickly and securely.

800 Racks with up to 3MW of IT power are housed in this Tier III centre, and the programme announcing the company’s work launch yesterday claimed that it has a continuously operational IT infrastructure.
It is claimed that by making the data flow entirely domestic, the data center’s customers will lower the cost of internet access.

Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group, expressed, “The launch of a new facility is always culmination of a long and, at times arduous, journey-a journey of dedication, hard work and bringing all our collective expertise at Raxio to bear. We are extremely proud to deliver such unique, first-of-its kind vital infrastructure to Ethiopia, and are convinced that it will support Ethiopia’s ambitious goals for its continued digital transformation and digital inclusion initiatives.”

Raxio Ethiopia is the first of several facilities Raxio plans to open in the next few months. Robert Mullins added, “This is hugely exciting time for us as a company. After our launch in Uganda two years ago, Raxio Ethiopia is the first in a series of facilities we will be opening between now and the end of the first half 2024, with cur facilities in Mozambique, Ivory Coast and DRC next in line. With these facilities and more to follow later in 2024 and early 2025, we are continuing to execute on our promise of delivering world-class data centre
