The 127th Adwa Victory Day celebrations had drawn people from all over, but they were barred from entering Meniluk Square. Addis Maleda claims that due to an unidentified reason, all routes leading to Menelik Square were shut down, and police used tear gas to scatter the celebratory crowds.
Only small people went to the square.
People from all over who have gathered to celebrate the festival are being stopped by a number of security forces, including the defense. Security commandos are using force to disperse crowds gathered at closed entrances.
The square is off-limits to everyone, including festival goers who put on art performances that highlight the festival at various events.
