According to Jarso Boru, the zone’s administrator, 604 thousand citizens out of the zone’s total population of 867 thousand are receiving assistance. However, he claims that over 263,000 citizens who require immediate assistance have not received it.
Over 378,000 people have been displaced from their villages as a result of the drought and are currently housed in 21 shelters.
Efforts are being made to deliver aid to these citizens, and while the amount of aid has increased compared to last year.
According to the administrator, each household receives only 15 kilograms of grain, which is insufficient because each household has 8 to 10 families.
The beneficiary claims that having to wait a month for this has become a problem. Food shortages have been reported among children and the elderly, and the zone has requested that everyone evacuate in order to reduce the damage, which is becoming increasingly severe.
