According to the Government Communication Service Ministry, a total of 45 foreigners have been held in the Gambella region for illegitimately mining minerals, including gold. According to a statement from State Minister of Communication Services Selamawit Kasa, three Ethiopians were also held nearby.
Similar to this, 47 foreigners, including 9 private associations and 7 Ethiopians, were detained for gold mining in the Benshangul Gumuz region.
In her declaration, she claimed that 92 foreigners and other Ethiopians had participated in extortion through establishing relationships with foreign organisations.
