More than 3,000 asylum applicants have entered Ethiopia after fleeing the violence in Sudan

According to the Refugees and Returnees Service , about 3000 people seeking asylum entered Ethiopia after fleeing the turmoil in Sudan.

It claimed that in order to provide the necessary assistance to the asylum seekers, it has been working diligently with the pertinent federal, state, and partner organisations.

It announced the establishment of pre-registration stations after looking into the situation in the Gambella region’s Amhara, Metma, Benishangul, Kurmuk, and Pagak regions, where Sudanese asylum seekers are arriving in large numbers.

Both foreigners and Sudanese natives who have been displaced by the fighting are admitted through the entrances, according to the Refugees and Returnees Service. Depending on the case’s relevance, the procedures for deciding whether to recognise a group’s or a person’s immigration will be applied.

Using this information, it has been asserted that the applicants are being transferred to an interim detention facility for asylum seekers that has been built in partnership with the Turkish Refugee Agency and other partner organisations.

In response, the Amhara regional administration donated 57 hectares of land for use as a location for refugees and returnees. This was done in a concerted effort to offer the required humanitarian assistance and protection.
