Dashen Bank Hits Br. 350 Billion in Assets Amid 128% Profit Surge

Dashen Bank has officially announced a robust financial performance for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, reporting a staggering 128 percent increase in pre-tax profit to 15.2 billion birr while its total assets expanded by 37.4 percent to reach an impressive 350 billion birr.

The stellar financial results, driven by strong operational growth across both conventional and interest-free banking portfolios, underline the institution’s expanding strategic footprint within Ethiopia’s highly competitive financial sector. According to the bank’s comprehensive annual performance disclosures, total revenue surged by 49.2 percent to hit 47 billion birr, reflecting broad-based operational scaling, enhanced asset utilization, and increased market penetration across diverse urban and regional economic corridors.

Customer deposits experienced a remarkable 37 percent upward trajectory, climbing to 280 billion birr, alongside an aggregate credit disbursement of 165.4 billion birr that actively supports domestic commerce, trade, and priority developmental projects. Concurrently, the bank’s total active customer base surpassed 9 million account holders, bolstered by targeted customer acquisition strategies, expanded physical branch networks, and specialized interest-free financial products designed to cater to diverse demographic segments.

Beyond core lending and deposit mobilization, Dashen Bank demonstrated substantial gains in foreign currency generation, successfully securing over 1.4 billion US dollars to support vital national import trade requirements and overall macroeconomic liquidity. Digital banking adoption also scaled rapidly during the period, with the proprietary Dashen Super App processing more than 29.4 million individual transactions valued in excess of 309 billion birr, highlighting the accelerating consumer shift toward automated, mobile-first financial solutions.

Demonstrating a balanced commitment to corporate citizenship, the institution channeled a cumulative 200 million birr toward high-impact community-focused social initiatives and environmental sustainability programs. Independent financial analysts observe that while these record-breaking metrics signal strong institutional resilience and operational efficiency, sustaining such rapid growth will require adaptive risk management and liquidity frameworks as market conditions evolve.
