A bombing last night at an amusement park in Mekelle resulted in four fatalities and twenty other injuries, saddening many locals.
The police have established that a “former fighter” was behind the bomb attack that happened at a nightclub near Romanat Square at 8 o’clock last night, according to the Mekelle Police Office, even though the perpetrator has not yet been captured.
According to Aidar Referral Hospital, five of the 20 victims of the incident had significant injuries.
The Ashenda festival, according to Mecklenburg City Police Chief Commander Woldai Medey, is resulting in a high level of security in the city. On the festival’s final day, a devastating bombing attack was carried out in the city’s first district, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
The attacker, according to Commander Woldai, is a former fighter who has been discharged and claims to be under surveillance in order to be “brought under control.”
According to Commander Woldai Mkhedi, the attack was motivated by a “personal conflict”. A member of the emergency room staff at Aider Referral Hospital in Mekelle told Deutsche Welle that twenty bombing victims have been receiving care there since yesterday 8:00 p.m.
The required medical care is being provided to five attack victims who sustained serious injuries.
