Well-known singer Tedros Kassahun, also known as “Teddy Afro,” has given a donation of one million birr to be used for the immediate needs of the Borena people.
The drought caused more than 3 million animals to perish there. Cattle make up 85% of these, according to reports.
More than 800,000 people in the Borena zone have been affected by the drought, and 167,000 of them urgently require food assistance.
In the Borena zone of the Oromia region, there are 807 000 people in need of assistance, according to the zone administration.
