A university graduate has tragically passed away in Gondar, Ethiopia, after being gored by an ox purchased for his own graduation feast. Fisseha Asmamaw, who had just earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Gondar, was laid to rest on Thursday following the freak accident.
The incident occurred in the Gayint (Gobgob) area, where Asmamaw’s family had gathered to celebrate his academic achievement. According to local reports, the ox, which had been bought specifically for the celebratory banquet, suddenly attacked the young graduate, inflicting fatal injuries before the festivities could begin.
The tragedy struck just a week after Asmamaw celebrated his graduation ceremony, a milestone that had brought immense joy to his family and local community. He had recently returned to his birthplace alongside relatives and friends who had traveled to honor his accomplishments and promising future.
Funeral services for the young engineer were conducted on Thursday at the Gayint Gobgob Keranio Medhanialem Church. The ceremony was attended by grieving family members, classmates, neighbors, and community members who gathered to pay their final respects.
