General Tadesse Werede, former Tigray Region President Debretsion Gebremikae (Dr.), and acting Tigray Region President Getachew Reda were all named as defendants in the action that has been dismissed.
The Ministry of Justice announced this afternoon that, in accordance with the terms of the peace agreement signed between the federal government and the People’s Liberation Army of Tigray , it was determined that crimes connected to the conflict should be dealt with within the parameters of transitional justice, taking into account the experience of other nations.
So, it was determined that the prosecution of the military and civilian commanders of the People’s Liberation Army of Tigray, who were accused of crimes but were exonerated of them, needed to be halted.
