The individuals responsible for the kidnapping of a 14-year-old boy are apprehended after a dispute about money distribution

In the “Gambela” neighbourhood of North Shewa Zone’s Dera district, a 14-year-old child was abducted and paid 100,000 birr, but after a skirmish, the kidnappers were apprehended by police.

When they found out that Qasim Suleman, a well-known local person, had gotten money from an overseas family, they abducted the boy and threatened to kill him if they didn’t get the 150 000 birr they had demanded.

The worried family agreed to give the kidnapper 100,000 Birr since they were concerned for their child’s safety and believed that his life was not worth more. After receiving the money, the first defendant, Zene, retained 88,000 birr, but only gave 12,000 birr to the second defendant.

The police detained them both after they got into a fight in a bar. The police detained the individuals and are investigating, according to Assistant Inspector of the Zone ,Belay Ketema.
