The Holy Patriarch of the Tewahedo Orthodox Church is in charge of a mission to Mekelle

The Blessed Fathers will met with His Holiness the Pope and the Holy Patriarch in Tigray to discuss peace. These choices were taken by the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

The permanent synod decided that a delegation headed by His Holiness the Patriarch should travel to Mekelle and offer humanitarian aid before returning after consulting with the region’s noble abbots and bishops. This decision was taken in front of the committee, which had been convened before departing for the location.

As a result, an 18-person delegation led by His Holiness Abune Matias I, the Patriarch of Ethiopia, Archbishop Zeaxum Wechige, and Madabare Tekleheman left for Tigray, Mekelle, today morning.

While they are present in the temporary administration of the Tigray region, the delegation is anticipated to visit the displaced people as planned by the regional interim government to provide humanitarian aid.

As planned, the Holy Patriarch and the team will speak with the blessed fathers in Tigray. The Holy Synod has agreed that the Tigrayan people’s appeal for forgiveness will be recognised.
