Arjo Dedessa, Kessem, Tana Beles, and Tendaho are just a few of the eight state-owned sugar companies that are up for tender. The Ministry of Finance and Ethiopia Investment Holdings (EIH) issued an invitation for people to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for the tendering of them on August 19, 2022. (collectively referred to as the Sugar Enterprises).
This program is a part of a larger initiative to restructure the sugar industry as a competitive market structure and foster the expansion of the private sector. In response to the call for EOIs for the tender, more than twenty domestic and international investors have sent their expressions of interest.
The Government is currently interacting with potential investors to gather early feedback on the proposed policy reforms before issuing a thorough Request for Proposal (RFP) outlining the procedure for submitting bids.
