Ethiopia requests that Egypt stop using abusive language and threats

The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs’ assertion that “all doors are open” to resolve the Renaissance Dam dispute was rejected by the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as being reckless and irresponsible.

Both the rules of the African Union and the United Nations Charter, it declared, are being flagrantly broken. Additionally, this action goes against the agreement Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia made in March 2015 regarding the Great Renaissance Dam.

It pleaded with Egypt to hold back on saying inappropriate and unlawful things. The relevant parties need to be aware that Egypt is breaking international law in this situation. The minister emphasized that Egypt cannot achieve its objectives by using coercion and illegal conduct.

It did, however, state its unwavering conviction that the nations will reach an understanding through reciprocal respect and trust and in a manner that upholds international law while acting under the aegis of the African Union.
