Today’s 13th regular session of the House of Representatives saw the announcement that Chala Wata (Dr.), the president of Bule Hora University, who had his rights revoked without being prosecuted, had been arrested.
After the council member was charged with wrongdoing, the Ministry of Justice asked the council to take this into consideration.
It is claimed that the member violated the law allowing for the government procurement law by hiring the member as a construction consultant for a business firm named BHU Consulting that he personally founded.

During the examination, it was found that around 23 million birr were fraudulently transferred from the university account to the organisation. The alleged confirmation of the illegal acquisition of more than 195 million Birr in cash. In addition, it was mentioned that a private contractor’s name was used in the production of 14 vehicles and pieces of equipment totaling 116 million birr. The reality that a private corporation owned the vehicles and equipment that were purchased with university cash.
In his address to the council, Chala Wata (Dr. Remarks) brought up their claim to immunity and stated that BHU Consulting is the university’s main source of income.
Following the council’s end of its 13th regular meeting today, Chala Wata (Dr.), the president of Bule Hora University, who had the right to be impeached, was arrested by police.
