The 7th Huawei ICT Competition 2023, organised by Huawei Technologies in partnership with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education, attracted more than 1500 college students.

18 students received prizes at the ceremony from Dr Solomon Abraha, the CEO of governance and infrastructure for the Ministry of Education. The nine winners of the global final competition won Huawei tablets, while the other regional competition winners received Huawei armbands.
According to Dr. Solomon, the Huawei ICT Competition “gives Ethiopian students international exposure,” he remarked at the award ceremony. According to the CEO, university students can improve their ICT skills and knowledge by participating in competitions while also gaining important exposure and experience. The development of ICT education, he continued, is the ministry of education’s top priority. Dr. Solomon expresses gratitude to Huawei for funding such a big competition.

He added that the improvement of ICT education is a top priority for the ministry of education. Dr. Solomon thanks Huawei for sponsoring such a global contest. I urge you to think about taking part in an ICT competition if you’re a university student interested in ICT, he said. It can be a fantastic chance to develop your skills, get considerable experience, and gain recognition on a global scale.
ICT competitions normally encompass a wide range of ICT topics, so competitors will have the chance to learn about new technologies and concepts, according to Mr. Liming Ye, Huawei Ethiopia’s PR director.

Additionally, they will have the opportunity to use these technologies firsthand, which will help them hone their practical abilities.
Additionally, he asserted that participating in an ICT competition might give students valuable experience in problem-solving, teamwork, confidence-building, exposure, and project management. Additionally, they will develop effective communication skills, which are essential for all professionals. In order to uphold its social duty, he added, Huawei, an IT business, should carry on with comparable initiatives.

Students who took part in the competition said it provided them with new experiences and that visiting Huawei’s headquarters, a technology hub, rekindled their motivation. Tibebu Kaleb, one of the students who travelled to China for the international competition, stated during the occasion that he was given the opportunity to compete against students from other countries and that Huawei Ethiopia had extended him a job offer.
