According to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia has achieved its aim of planting more than 500 million saplings in one night.
Prime Minister Abiy (Dr.) praised the public’s enthusiastic involvement in the programme to plant more than 566 million saplings overnight in a statement from the Sapling Events Monitoring Unit.
More than 566 million seedlings, according to him, have been planted across Ethiopia since midnight.

All Ethiopians, as well as the mothers, children, and students who welcomed their children and assisted in planting trees to make the event successful, were commended by Prime Minister Abiy (Dr.).
A letter of congratulations was also included.
He declared that we had been successful in imparting a very significant and patriotic lesson to Ethiopia, Africa, and the entire globe today.
He noted that the debate on the issue has been postponed despite the belief that climate change is endangering the world.
He pointed out that 566 million 971 thousand 600 saplings were planted on 302 thousand hectares of land as part of the effort to plant 500 million seedlings overnight.
