In order to flee the turmoil in Sudan, more than 3,500 migrants from 35 different nations entered the Ethiopian border town of Matama between last Friday and Tuesday, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
Turkish nationals make up the majority of those who have arrived in Metema, according to K. Viray, the IOM’s spokeswoman in Ethiopia. After them, in that order, will be those from Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and China.
According to K. Virai, who made the statement, IOM has complied with numerous requests from embassies to help with the reception and transit of about 700 individuals from other countries.
