Ambassador Mike Hammer, the US’s Special Envoy for the Horn of East Africa, has been in Europe since August 19 and will remain there through August 25, 2023.
According to a statement from the US State Department, discussions with allies would include the Renaissance Dam and recent developments in Ethiopia.
Mike Hammer stated that he will meet with the EU representatives of Ethiopia and Sudan when he was in Stockholm, Sweden, and Brussels, Belgium, according to information posted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website.
He will participate in the forum that the Stocom International Water Institute is hosting during World Water Week. It was mentioned in the conference that he will offer guidance regarding the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
The special envoy reportedly also had meetings in Brussels, Belgium, with officials from the United States and the European Union. According to reports, the US will confer on ways to safeguard people and find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ethiopia’s Amhara and Oromia regions.
The ambassador will also discuss the complete implementation of the peace agreement that was negotiated in Pretoria with representatives from the European Union, according to a statement from the Foreign Office.
