Ethiopian Airlines has secured a $7.8 billion funding deal to build its new airport in Bishoftu

The African Development Bank agreed to lend $7.8 billion for the construction of the Bishoftu airport.

The loan agreement will be signed at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa on Monday.

The loan agreement will be signed in front of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, African Development Bank President Adesina, senior Ethiopian Airlines officials, and other visitors. Over 100 million passengers should be able to use the Bishoftu International Airport when it is completed in five years.

Ethiopian Airlines announced that it earned $7.6 billion in revenue in in the ended Ethiopianfiscal year .

It was also recently reported that it suffered a loss of $28 million due to domestic flights.
