MultiChoice Ethiopia graduates its first 25 “Ethiopian Future Skills” STEM initiative students

The intensive, fully-funded 12-week digital literacy and coding program concluded with a live project showcase on June 30, 2026, in Addis Ababa.

The initiative, launched in February 2026, provided public-school students from underprivileged backgrounds with technical training in web development and artificial intelligence. Maintaining a strict 50 percent female participation rate, the program aims to bridge the digital divide and equip youth with competitive skills for the global digital economy.

Students mastered computational thinking and web foundations, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Throughout the curriculum, participants utilized AI-enhanced learning tools that acted as supportive tutors to troubleshoot code, while simultaneously developing essential soft skills like teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.

To deliver the program, MultiChoice Ethiopia partnered with premier local Ed-Tech organization Yenetta Code, whose instructors facilitated the intensive training. During the ceremony, the cohort presented capstone web applications addressing local community issues, and top performers received fully funded placements into an advanced STEM summer camp.

Gelila G/Michael, Managing Director of MultiChoice Ethiopia, and Ayalneh Lemma from the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, both praised the initiative. They emphasized that private-sector collaboration is critical to advancing the “Digital Ethiopia” agenda and transforming raw potential into active digital creators.
